FAQ

Parents Questions

My child never coded. Is that a problem?

No. Most people start with no experience at all. If they’ve used Scratch, that helps, but it isn’t needed.

What equipment do we need at home?

A Windows, Mac or Linux laptop from roughly the last six years, and the ability to install software on it. School-issued laptops are usually locked down and won’t work. Everything we use is free. For the fist lessons, the only thing you really need is an Interned connection.

Can I stay and watch?

Always, and you’re especially welcome at the taster. Some parents stay every week; most drop off and come back for the last ten minutes when the games get demoed.

What if my child doesn’t enjoy it?

That’s what the free taster is for. If they come once and it isn’t for them, nothing is owed and there’s nothing to cancel. If they drop out partway through a term, I’ll refund the sessions they haven’t used.

Will this help with GCSE Computer Science?

Indirectly, and honestly. This isn’t exam tutoring — it’s project work. But the concepts they meet building a game are the same ones the syllabus covers, and arriving at Year 10 already comfortable with them makes a real difference.
